William O. Smith, age 73, a U.S. Navy Veteran and long time resident of Park Ridge, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home Monday, July 15, 2019. Bill will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Sharon M. Smith; children, Teresa (Tim) Nelson, Erica Jacobsen and Tony (Melissa) Smith. He was a proud and devoted grandpa to Ruby, Lucy, James, Mason, Vivian and Lily; dear brother of Michael (Vicki) Smith, Doug (Ruth) Smith, Patrick (Teresa) Smith and Paula Kuvelas; admired brother-in-law to Gene (the late Dolores) Guidone and Dianna (Charles) Ronan and loving  uncle to many wonderful nieces and nephews. We will be celebrating his life at a Memorial to be held Saturday, August 17, from 11 am until 2 pm; family sharing time and eulogy 1 pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Road, Park Ridge. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at app.mobilecause.com/vf/PFFTribute/WilliamOSmith to help find a cure for others with this disease.
