Walter Roald Magnuson, 88, loving husband of 44 years of Sherida; beloved father of Kerstin (Sherman Anderson) Magnuson-Anderson, Sherida (Edward Otto) Hudak-Otto, John Kenneth Hudak; devoted Morfar of Klaara Anderson and Magnus Anderson; cherished uncle of Trudy Magnuson-Jahnke; and great-uncle of Kenneth Jahnke, Robert Jahnke, Lisa Jahnke and Renee Jahnke.

Wally served his country and community as a proud member of the US Army. He was stationed in Germany as an intelligence officer and was a Veteran of the Korean War Conflict. He was also a graduate, swimmer  and diver at the University of Illinois as well as U.I.C. Circle Campus.

Wally was extremely proud of his 38 years with the Chicago Park District as a Supervisor. 30 of those years were at his beloved Merrimac Park. About 50 years ago, Wally was one of the original sponsors for the US Special Olympics based in Chicago. He was a Mason of the 32nd degree, Kelvyn Park Willing Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Chicago and a 45 year member with Medinah Shriners and El Hajj.

His Swedish heritage and culture was of the upmost importance. Wally was a baritone in the American Union of Swedish Singers and a most established member with over 70 years with the group. He also dedicated his time with the Swedish Museum, the International Order of Svithiod, Vasa Order of America, and Scandinavian Vasa Park.
