Spiros Athanasopoulos, age 84, fell asleep in the Lord on August 28, 2025. Beloved husband of the late Niki (nee Papagiannes). Devoted father of Eleni (Anastasios) Tsiopelas and Georgia (the late Michael Bepis) Athanasopoulos. Cherished pappou of Yianni and Gabriella. Loving brother of the late Georgia, the late Christos, the late George and the late Stavroula. Dear theio of many.

Spiros was an exceptional chef and took pride in feeding everyone (especially his pastitsio). He adored his grandchildren. He married Niki and together they had two beautiful daughters. Spiros enjoyed attending church at the Greek-American Rehab Center, spending time with his friends, drinking coffee and gossiping.

Visitation Tuesday, September 2 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM (with Trisagion at 6:00PM) at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 W. Talcott Road, Park Ridge. Funeral service Wednesday, September 3 at 9:30AM at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 7373 N. Caldwell Ave., Niles. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove.
