Shirley M. Johnson, nee Mencel, 90, of Park Ridge, passed away March 17, 2018.  Loving mother of Jeffrey (Victoria Calich, companion) and Sheryl (Paul Lamantia, companion); cherished sister of the late Jeanne (the late Hugh) Granahan; dearest aunt of Tim (Barbara) and the late Greg Granahan; fond great aunt of Patrick Granahan.  Shirley earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Illinois.  In addition to raising her children and keeping up her responsibilities as a homemaker, she worked in personnel at Bacon's Clipping Bureau in Chicago for about 15 years.  Shirley served as Past President of Spares Sunday Evening Club and greatly enjoyed dancing, swimming and playing bridge, having belonged to several bridge groups.   Visitation Wednesday, March 21, 4 – 9 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Rd., Park Ridge, where a funeral service will be held Thursday, March 22, 11 am.  Interment Acacia Park Cemetery.  For more information please call  847-823-5122.
