Rose Couch Papish made her peaceful departure on May 4, 2022 at the age of 98. She is reunited in heaven with her loving husband Walter, parents Stanley and Ursula, all of her siblings (Sophie, Eleanor, Edward, Stanley, and Frank) as well as many cherished relatives and friends. Rose was the loving mother of Gloria (Rick McCallister), Donna (the late Craig Stroder) and Christina; cherished busia of Constance (Ryan Kincaide), Walter Stroder (fiancé Sabrina Mueller); beloved great-grandma of James Kincaide as well as dear aunt, godmother and caring friend of many.
Rose lived an interesting and full life. She experience a lot of history first hand as she was creating her own. The youngest of 6, she began working at age 16 as a bookkeeper, first for a manufacturer and then for the U.S. Army as a civilian during war time. She found her true calling when she was hired into the field of commodities. She found this vocation to be compelling and felt enriched by her work. Rose was an integral part of each firm where she was employed, making her mark as she climbed the ladder to upper management. In addition, she was among the first female members of the IMM.
Rose valued education and had a fondness for reading. She was a private person and was constant in her faith and grateful for her life. She had amazing wisdom, a thriving spirit, and was generous as well as kind.
In her younger days, Rose enjoyed bowling. Her high game was 278 (and it got her picture in the paper!). She enjoyed travel for work and leisure, parties, weddings, playing the slots and keeping in touch with family and friends. She crocheted and always looked forward to Christmas and the holiday season. Rose was a Cubs fan; anticipating Spring and the start of a new baseball season. The games brought back childhood memories of listening to them on the radio with her father; and later in life of watching them on tv with her husband Wally. To know Rose is to know that she loved a good meal either at home or in a restaurant.
Rose had a practical and positive view of life and was a true blessing to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed as she goes home to her heavenly family.
