Richard Young, 95 years and 10 months, loving son of the late Conrad and the late Elna Young; devoted brother of the late Conrad (the late Molly) Young, the late May Estelle (the late Ken) Nelson, the late Kenneth Young; treasured brother-in-law of Rosemarie Young (wife of Kenneth); kind uncle of Linda (Fred) Samp, Denise (the late Bob) Nowak, Carl (Marilyn) Young, Marilyn (the late Ron) Kulak, Elaine (John) Redden, the late Martin (Jackie) Young, Diane (Edgar) Wolff-Klammer, the late Paul Cornett, Carol (Earl) Josserand and Emily Young; grand-uncle of many nieces and nephews and even a handful of great-grand nieces and nephews.

Richard was a proud graduate of Northwestern University, where his dedication to learning laid the foundation for a life marked by integrity and quiet accomplishment. He shared his rich musical talent as a first tenor in both the Chicago Swedish Male Chorus and the Swedish Glee Club, bringing joy to others through song and fellowship. Richard was known for his many admirable qualities—he was kind, gentle, and unfailingly nice, with a generosity that touched many lives. Even-tempered Richard carried himself with humility and grace. Practical with money and wise in his decisions, Richard lived a life that reflected thoughtfulness, balance, and deep-rooted values.

Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 W. Talcott Ave., Park Ridge, IL.

Interment will be private.
