IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard 'Dick'
Heidkamp
May 9, 1931 – March 12, 2022
Richard H. Heidkamp, age 90, passed away on March 12, 2022. He was born in Chicago, IL on May 9, 1931, the son of Katharine and Emil Heidkamp. Beloved husband for over 50 years of late Ann, nee Del Giorno; loving father of Michael and Bernie; proud grandfather of Alexandra and Mateo; father-in-law of Maria (Pimentel) and Christine (Cupaiuolo); uncle of many nieces and nephews; friend and storyteller to all he met. After serving as a priest for more than a decade, Richard worked in development offices, raising funds for a variety of educational institutions and non-profit organizations, including the Girl Scouts of America, Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Loyola Academy, and Loyola University. When he retired, he was able to work full-time as a political activist. He traveled throughout Central and South America, often on educational and medical missions for the Chicago Religious Leadership Network (CRLN). Back home he proudly participated in a variety of protests and acts of civil disobedience promoting causes of justice and peace. For this he was sometimes arrested; his children were always happy to bail him out of jail.
