IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard
Grott
August 30, 1930 – April 23, 2025
Richard Grott, 94, of Chicago, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 23. He is survived by Patricia Grott; loving dad to Rob (Barb), Mary (the late Jim), Peg (Russ), and Jeff (Therese); proud Papa G to Chris (Katie), Laura (Mitch), Elizabeth, Emily, Nick, and Andy; caring great-grandfather to Owen, Nora, and Violet.
Born with an adventurous spirit and a keen mind, Richard dedicated his early years to serving his country proudly in the United States Air Force. After his service, he channeled his determination and work ethic into a successful career in business, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of all who worked with him.
Richard's passions knew no bounds. His travels took him across the globe, where he immersed himself in new cultures, cuisines, and friendships. A masterful baker, Richard filled many homes with the warm scent of fresh baked goods, a talent he shared generously. His deep appreciation for fine wine was more than a hobby—it was a way of bringing people together around stories and laughter.
An avid photographer and a devoted supporter of the arts, Richard captured beauty through his lens and championed countless artists with his patronage. His love for teaching—whether in formal settings or simply through everyday conversations—was a gift he shared freely, inspiring many to pursue their passions with heart and integrity.
Above all, Richard cherished his family and friends. He loved deeply, valued loyalty, and appreciated every moment spent with those he held dear. His wisdom, humor, and kindness leave a lasting imprint on all who had the honor of knowing him.
Richard's life was a tapestry woven with curiosity, generosity, and love. His legacy will continue through the countless lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
