Michael Jummati, 92, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Mike will be remembered for his quirky one-liners and the 'Pearls of Wisdom' he shared as he 'shuffled off to Buffalo.'
Mike was the loving husband of the late Donna J. Jummati, née Edwards; proud father of Jeanette Jummati; Michael “Larry” (Kim Jarosz) Jummati; Julianna Jummati; and Christina (Kevin) Kohl; and dear grandfather of Anthony (Katey) Pope, Yared Kohl, and Amanuel Kohl.
Known as “Buddy” to the family, Mike was the son of the late Michael and the late Anna (née Tortorello) Jummati and the brother of the late Josephine “Dolly” Formato and Annette “Bunny” Dolf.
A longtime Chicago resident, Mike spent a few years away from home while serving in the U.S. Army. Selected to attend the Army’s language school in Monterey, California, he went on to serve as a language interpreter at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines.
Mike enjoyed a long career in the printing industry. In retirement, he spent many fun summers as a wagering host for group events at Arlington Park Racecourse.
A lifelong Chicago Bears fan, Mike was thrilled to witness many memorable moments in the team’s history, especially the Bears’ Super Bowl XX victory in New Orleans. He was equally devoted to the music of the Big Band era, notably Frank Sinatra and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. The instrumental "In the Mood" was one of his favorites.
Other cherished memories include family road trips across America as well as visits to Australia and southern Africa.
Mike will be remembered for his quirky one-liners and the “Pearls of Wisdom” he shared as he “shuffled off to Buffalo.” He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church, 7958 W. Foster Ave., Chicago, IL 60656. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., with interment to follow at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, IL.
