Dr. Marta Fernández, famous 40's and 50's Cuban radio, television and stage actress, known to Cuba as Martica Diaz, who emigrated to the U.S. in 1963 and became a university professor and an award-winning and inspiring Evanston Township High School teacher, devoted wife, loving mom and grandma, was taken to rest from her home by our heavenly father on February 1, 2024.  She is survived by her beloved husband, Jose Luis, her son Luis Alberto, her loving daughter-in-law Erika, and her five cherished grandchildren: William, Philip, Teresa, Sofir and Madeleine.  May she rest in eternal peace.  Que Dios la bendiga.

Visitation Sunday, February 4, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Road, Park Ridge, IL 60068. Funeral Service Monday, February 5, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. from Nelson Funeral Home to Mt. Hope Cemetery in Elgin for interment.
