Maria Renée Foszcz of Chicago, Illinois passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

Maria was born on December 22, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Roman and Alice (nee Setlak) Foszcz. She is survived by her sister Kathleen (Kathie) Foszcz of Glenview, her brother Martin of Chicago, and her aunt Gloria Halse of the Quad City area, and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and older brother Roman Foszcz.

Maria attended Alvernia High School and Wilbur Wright College. She enjoyed her work as a standardized medical patient at the University of Illinois Chicago Hospital, where she assessed medical students in their studies. For many years, she assisted her father, Roman and her sister, Kathie in the caregiving of her mother, Alice. Maria was a loving owner of her cat, Kitty, and her parakeet, Precious.

A lover of history, nature and the arts, Maria enjoyed visiting museums, attending musicals, plays and movies and touring botanic gardens. She was an avid reader and history buff.
Maria attended various singing classes and performed in choirs with the Old Town
School of Folk Music.

A Memorial Visitation at St. Emily Catholic Church, 1400 E. Central Road, Mount Prospect, IL 60056 will be held Thursday, November 6, at 9:30 a.m. Immediately following, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Father James Presta will officiate.
