Leonora "Lona" Berta Jelinek, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital after a brave struggle with cancer surrounded by her loving family. Lona is now reunited with her parents and brothers Heinrich and Johannes. Lona is survived by her husband, Peter Jelinek; sister, Maria; brothers, Bernhard, Franz, Konrad, and Hubertus; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Lona enjoyed needlepoint, crochet, and tending to her herb and vegetable garden and lovely home. Most of all Lona enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff at Advocate Lutheran General Oncology Unit for the exceptional care given to Lona. A visitation will be held Saturday, December 1, at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Road, Park Ridge from 9:00 AM  until time of prayers, 11 AM. Procession to 11:30 AM Funeral Mass at  Mary, Seat of Wisdom Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Advocate Children's Hospital would be appreciated.
