IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Laura
Sitterly
August 12, 1919 – May 3, 2022
Laura Sitterly, age 102, died peacefully on May 3 rd , 2022, in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents, Karl Sitterly, Sr. (deceased) and Elizabeth Sitterly (deceased) had three children; Laura Sitterly's siblings, Martha Sitterly Morrison, and Karl Sitterly, Jr. both of whom predeceased her.
Laura's sister, Martha Morrison (dec.) had one daughter Kathleen Morrison (deceased), Laura's beloved niece who lived with Laura until Kathleen's death.
Laura's brother Karl Sitterly, Jr. (dec.) had three children, now living, nieces, Elizabeth Sitterly and Violet Sitterly (twins) and nephew, Dr. Karl Fritz Sitterly III.
Laura enjoyed close family ties with cousins, Judi Golnick (Laura's godchild), Dr. Peter Neidenbach, Elaine Johnson Falone, and other cousins and aunt in Germany. Her devoted friends Richard (Myrta) Sikora, and their children, assisted Laura and over the last twenty years of her life. Karen William remained a good friend until the end. Finally, her caregivers, Krystyna Budziszewska and Dorota Jurkowska, were by Laura's side in her home over several years until Laura's death.
Laura lived every day of those 102 years with vigor, beauty, and intelligence. Among many of Laura's truly amazing qualities; she was an accomplished artist working almost exclusively in oils. Her paintings can be found throughout her home. She was also an extremely talented clothing designer. She designed, cut the patterns, and sewed many of the beautiful garments she wore. She was definitely a cat person, having taken care of many strays and her own house cats that she kept over the years. She was also a dog person, totally doting on her much beloved Yorkshire Terrier " Dukey " . When she wasn't painting or sewing, you could find her tending her flower gardens. Of all these wonderful talents, perhaps the greatest of all was her caring nature. She took care of her mother as her health failed and did the same for her sister Martha and Martha's daughter, Kathleen. The Sitterly family has lost a pillar.
