Kevin Paul Rauch was born on May 20, 1965, at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, IL, and grew up and lived in Park Ridge, IL. He was born with spina bifida, which resulted in him using a wheelchair for mobility throughout his life. From his very first days, he showed the determination that would define his life.
He underwent numerous surgeries in his early years, and though his challenges continued throughout his 61 years, Kevin never let them define him. He was — and will always be — the strongest person his family has ever known.
Kevin attended Jefferson Elementary School, Emerson Middle School and Maine East High School. He was an athlete through and through, competing with heart and determination in track and field, and floor hockey. Sports were one of the great loves of his life, and Kevin was a devoted fan of every Chicago sports team. Whether cheering from the stands or watching the games from home with his family, his passion for his city and its teams was a constant source of connection and happiness.
Kevin worked at Shore Community Services and served proudly as an Energy Ambassador for ComEd, where he brought his warmth and dedication to everything he did. For more than fifty years, he was an active and beloved member of the Maine - Niles Association of Special Recreation (M-NASR) organization, forming friendships that spanned decades. Kevin had a gift for conversation — he was fun to talk to, quick with a smile, and always genuinely interested in the people around him. He never criticized or judged anyone and he always had an upbeat attitude.
The last few months tested Kevin in ways most people could never imagine as he battled cancer for the second time. He faced each challenge with a quiet, unbreakable resolve. He never gave up. He inspired his family, his friends, and everyone who had the privilege of walking beside him.
Kevin leaves behind a legacy of courage, kindness, and an unshakeable spirit. He lived life fully. He loved deeply. He fought bravely. And now, he is at peace.
Kevin is survived by his loving parents Paul and Charlyn; caring brothers Paul, James (Dawn), Steven, and Daniel (Jenna); loving uncle to Emile, Adalie, Benjamin, Matthew, and Evan.
A private burial will be held August 3, 2026 at The Town of Maine Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life gathering is planned for a later date at the Park Ridge Community Church, this webpage will be updated when the service is scheduled.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial gifts may be made to Maine-Niles Association of Special Recreation.
