Josephine Gianforte nee Giliberto, age 88, was born January 29, 1927 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Sam and Carmella Giliberto. She was the youngest of 3 children. Josephine married James Gianforte on April 17, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois. James is a retired Chicago Firefighter and Josephine was a stay-at-home mom dedicating herself to her three children: James (Susan), Cathleen (Daniel) McHugh, and Carolyn (Chris) Garrity. Josephine was the proud grandmother of James (Dana) Gianforte, Christopher (Kim) McHugh, Matthew (Meyoun) Gianforte, Joseph (Johanna) Gianforte, Michael (Amy) McHugh, and Katherine Garrity. She was blessed with four great-grandchildren: Mason Gianforte, Kaylee Gianforte, Delaney McHugh, and Finn McHugh. Josephine was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 49 and battled metastasized breast cancer for the rest of her life. She was always a brave patient and was an inspiration to all who knew her for her determination to fight the cancer each time it resurfaced. Josephine loved to cook and host weekly family meals for her children and grandchildren. She was always willing to help others whether it was taking care of her own aging parents and in-laws or tirelessly and enthusiastically watching over her grandchildren. She was a die-hard Cubs fan. She loved to dance, exercise, and to go shopping. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
