Jose Luis Fernández, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who emigrated to the U.S. from Cuba in 1963, and recently battled a series of increasingly debilitating strokes, was taken to rest from his home by our heavenly father on April 18, 2026 at the age of 89. He is joined in Heaven by his cherished wife Marta, his mother and father Rosa Luisa and Ludovico, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Cuqui and Santiago, and his beloved uncle Paya. He is survived by his son Luis Alberto, his loving daughter-in-law Erika, and his five cherished grandchildren: William, Philip, Teresa, Sofir and Madeleine. May he rest in eternal peace. Visitation will be at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 W. Talcott Rd, Park Ridge, IL 60068 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 and from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 followed by a procession to Mt. Hope Cemetery in Elgin, IL for committal prayers and interment.
