Obituary

Stone, John N., Born in Hannibal, Missouri, spent most of his life in Chicago. Beloved husband of the late JoAnn. Loving father of Susan (Mary Neil) Stone, Judy Stone and John (Gayle) Stone. Cherished brother of Henry (Carol) Stone and the late JoAnn (Ed) VerPloeg. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Devoted close friend of Gloria Wohlt. Lifelong love of motorcycles and old cars. Worked his way through college doing automotive body work and playing the organ at the Hollywood Roller Rink. Drafted into the Army in 1952 and spent his time in the 49 th and 5 th Army Bands. During his long career as musician, he played piano for many functions throughout the Chicago Land area and was a music educator in the Lutheran School system. John also enjoyed performing with his family. He continued his passion for music and would perform for anyone who would listen. Member of the Chicago Musician's Union 10-208.

An independent business owner with Shaklee since 1969, John and JoAnn helped many people improve their lives through nutrition.  People remember John as a humorous, kind and caring person. He was always making people laugh and he was great at making people feel comfortable.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, August 22nd at 10:15 a.m. at Bethesda Ev. Lutheran Church, 6803 N. Campbell Ave., Chicago, IL. The family is having an open house following the service at 2724 W. Morse Ave., Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to, Bethesda Ev. Lutheran Church. A private Burial Service with be held at Ridgewood Cemetery. Arrangements by Nelson Funeral Home (847) 823-5122.
