Obituary

Jane W. Miller (nee Newton), age 97, died peacefully at Central Baptist Village, Norridge, on January 22,
2023. She was born on May 31, 1925 at Swedish Covenant Hospital, Chicago, first-born child of Thomas
D. Newton and Agnes V. Newton (nee Lindblad) of Chicago.
Jane was educated in the Chicago Public School system, graduating from Kelvin Park High School. Upon
graduation she worked as an Executive Assistant at the Wieboldt Corporation and the Motorola
Corporation until her marriage to Joseph Nolan Miller in 1948. After raising three sons, Wayne, Steven,
and Gregory, she returned from being a full-time homemaker to work for the Village of Niles and then as
an inside salesperson for Harcourt Brace publishers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her only sibling, Donald Thomas Newton, her former husband,
Joseph, her youngest son, Gregory, and her beloved friend and companion, Marjorie Wood. She is
survived by her sons, Wayne (Pamela) Miller of Park Ridge, Steven Miller of Chicago, grandsons, Aaron
(Cate) Miller of Los Angeles, California, and Timothy (Beth Davis) Miller, of Gary, Indiana, and her son-in-
law, Kelly Leggett of Chicago.

Visitation Wednesday 2-8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 W. Talcott Road, Park Ridge. Lying in state Thursday, 10:00 a.m. until time of service, 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 205 N. Prospect, Park Ridge. Interment Mount Olive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Central Baptist Village Home Life Fund
