IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James A.
Maurer
October 16, 1946 – January 2, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of James "Jimmy" A. Maurer, 78, of Chicago, announce his passing. James passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 2, 2025. He was the loving husband of Candace. With his former wife, Jan, he became an adoring dad to Erin Fisher, James R. Maurer, Meghann (Jason) Buehner; proud grandpa to Brenna, Dennis (Kate), the late Brody, Mallory, Grace and Olivia, Kennedy, Charlie, and Ashlynn; fond brother to Debra (the late Tommy) Fuller, the late Cathy, and the late Maureen. James is also preceded in death by his parents James and Genevieve. He was also a dear friend to many, including his first wife Jan, until the very end.
James was a proud member of the Chicago Police for 41 years, retiring as Chief of Patrol. Jimmy was a true friend to many, and in retirement, he remained loyal to fellow officers who became like brothers over the years, enjoying watching Chicago sports together and being a connoisseur of a good cigar.
