James Karantzis, age 92. Army Veteran of the Korean War on special assignment. Beloved husband of the late Georgia Karantzis nee Photopoulos. Loving father of Ellen Karantzis. Devoted son of the late Peter and Efrosini Karantzis. Dear brother of the late Steve (Ann) and Gus (survived by Rose) Karantzis. Fond uncle, cousin, and friend to many who will miss him. James was an electrical engineer and graduated from I.I.T. He had a remarkable and successful career in television, rising through the ranks to become a Director of Engineering. Following his retirement in engineering, he became a business owner and property owner. He was a founding father and board member of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church and spent many hours volunteering and contributing to the church in various ways. He was a member of the American Legion, Hellenic Post 343. He enjoyed spending his time with family and friends, had a charming sense of humor, and was always tinkering on ongoing projects. He was a source of inspiration, wisdom, and strength to many and will be greatly missed. Visitation Tuesday, April 13, 4PM-8:30PM at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 W. Talcott, Park Ridge. Family and friends will meet at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2350 E. Dempster, Des Plaines, Wednesday, April 14, at 10:00AM for visitation, funeral service to follow at 10:30AM. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove. Memorial donations to St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church or Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) would be appreciated. Arrangements by John G.
