Jack R. Manzella, 93, loving husband of Doris for over 71 years; devoted father of Pamela (James) Mackey, Larry (Jean) Manzella, Jack (Sylvana) Manzella, and Michael Manzella; treasured grandfather of James, Amy, Maria, Daniel, Stephanie, Peter, Andrew, Ron, Matthew, Jack, Billy, Michael, Alex, Jessica, Zachary, and Allyson; great-grandfather of 28; cherished brother of Frances Weiglein; brother-in-law of Patricia Horn; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. .
Jack was a man of constant values, morals, and a role model for all he knew and touched. A kind, gentle, so loving and giving man. During the Korean War, Jack served 4 years in the Navy for our country.
Jack educated his family and friends in many trades including his own craft of plumbing. A Chicago Water Department employee for 33 years serving the city he loved. He retired as a District Forman.
Using his many talents, Jack graciously volunteered to participate in several mission trips to Jamaica and Haiti which he enjoyed so much.
An outdoorsman who loved camping, scouting and then leading as a scoutmaster. He loved golfing, boating, and fishing. He was a fisherman who believed that if you spent a day on the water with no fish, but was spent with family and friends, then you had the biggest catch of the day.
A hobbyist. Loved to photograph family, friends, and lots of food. He enjoyed his model trains, and was a very skilled stained glass artist.
Jack was the consummate family man. First from his own as a youth, to then Doris’s, and then to the large family he sculpted to create, cultivate, and nurture so unselfishly.
He was a man of faith, resilience, flexibility, and understanding. An incredible listener who chose his words small, but powerful, because he knew they were more reflected in his actions.
Jack is truly a man to celebrate.
