Isabel "Bunny" Catherine Hughes, 73, of Park Ridge passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Loving wife to Charles for 51 years; adoring mother to Carl Hughes (Cayenne Claassen-Luttner) and John (Mandy) Hughes; proud grandma to Ellie, Cyrus, and Zenia; fond sister to Jack Husted; aunt to many; dear friend to all.

She was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Augustana College (Rock Island) (B.A., 1974) and a graduate of North Park Theological Seminary (M.Div., 2010) (where she won both the preaching and church history awards). Before retirement, Bunny was an ordained pastor and took great joy in her ministry, in the course of which she served several churches in Illinois: Edgebrook Covenant Church, Chicago; Saint Luke's Christian Community Church, Morton Grove; Morton Grove Community Church, Morton Grove; Community Presbyterian Church, Lombard; and Saint Mary's Episcopal Church, Park Ridge. Previously, she had been a junior high English teacher, youth minister, hospice volunteer, and teacher's aide in a kindergarten classroom. Bunny threw herself, heart and soul, into whatever she did and did it with a great and winsome generosity of spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Isabel Husted and brothers Rick, Lee, Brian, and Mark.

A Service of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Park Ridge, on Tuesday, December 2, at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will immediately follow the service at St. Mary's columbarium.
