Herbert Raymond Grunde formerly of Chicago and Lombard, IL and longtime resident of Central Baptist Village in Norridge, IL, age 93, passed away on August 12, 2018.

Herb is survived by his 3 children Bonnie (James), Daniel (Patricia) and Timothy (Nancy), 7 Grandchildren Katharine (Russel), Laura (Luke), Travis (Alexandra), William (Malissa), Michael, John and Kim as well as 4 Great Grandchildren Benjamin, Olivia, Claire and Nathan and from Herb's second marriage Grace Minster's extended family.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Elda and second wife Grace, (Herb married Elda King in 1948 and was widowed in 1992.  Herb married Grace Minster in 1993 and was widowed in 2008); his siblings Esther, Almer and Laura.

Herb was born on January 6, 1925 in Chicago, to parents Hjalmar and Theodora. Herb graduated from Lane Tech High School in 1943 and was in the WWII Infantry as an Aidman in Europe from 1944 to 1946 and received a Bronze Star among other medals.  After WWII Herb accepted a position at Sears Roebuck & Co. where he worked for more than 37 years.  Herb began his career at Sears as a service and repair technician and ended his career as a Manager of Chicago area Product Services Unit for Sears.

Herb enjoyed time spent with his family, traveling and time at the family cabin in northern Wisconsin. His family and friends will always remember him as a "Norske" Norwegian, good sense of humor, optimistic and a man of faith.

A funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, August 15, from 9 am until time of service at 10 am at Central Baptist Village 4747 N. Canfield Norridge, IL 60707.
