Gladys Catherine Lemme of Park Ridge, IL was born on February 15, 1926 in Chicago and ascended this earth on September 28th at a vibrant 90 years old. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Albert Francis Lemme and is survived by their seven children: Michael (Kathleen), Thomas, Christopher, David (Marcia), Laura, Claudia (Harvey), and Bridgette (Tom). Her wit and love of life live on through her ten grandchildren: Mallory, John, Margaret, Sean, Brigit, Matthew, Jack, Tom, Liam and Caitlin. Gladys is also survived by her eldest sister Millie and her many loving nieces and nephews. Gladys is united in death with her sisters Jean and Estelle.

A true renaissance woman, Gladys embraced life as both a wife and working mother. Prior to spending over 25 years with the U.S. Postal Service, she worked at the legendary Sahara Hotel where her encounters with celebrities, mobsters and politicians in the early 1960's, including the Beatles, provided colorful stories for her grandchildren. Gladys was also one of the original iconic Superdawg roller skating waitresses. Throughout the years her home was an open and welcoming place full of lively conversation, people who loved her and delicious home cooked meals.

Memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, October 4 from 3-9 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home; 820 W. Talcott Road (at Cumberland) Park Ridge, IL.
