Obituary

Surrounded by his cherished loved ones, George T. Demos, born May 12, 1948, peacefully departed this life on November 21st, 2024 and is now resting in the hands of Our Lord.

His soul will continue living through his treasured family, beloved husband of Bonnie (neé Pruzaniec), loving father of Tom Demos and Nicole (Lawrence) Trotter, devoted son of the late Vasiliki (neé Bouloukos) and Thanos Demos, proud Pappou of Kennedy, Lawrence, and Madison Trotter, dear brother of Paul (Gina) Demos and the late Peter Demos, dear son-in-law of the late Loretta Pruzaniec, dear brother-in-law of Jill (Dan) Szuszwalak and the late Drew Pruzaniec, fond uncle of Christina (Josh) Pickett, and great uncle to Emma and Jonathan Pickett. George was an extraordinary friend to many.

George was a champion basketball scorer in the mid -'60s, was a star player at Sullivan High School, and played collegiate basketball for both University of Illinois Chicago and University of Montana - Missoula. He is honored in the Hall of Fame of the Basketball Museum of Illinois, the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, Chicago Public League Basketball Coaches Association, University of Illinois Chicago, University of Montana - Missoula and the National Hellenic Invitational Basketball Tournament. George played professional basketball in Greece after college. He was also a collegiate basketball referee for many years. George was a friend and former board member of the National Hellenic Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 26th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 West Talcott Road, Park Ridge, Illinois.

A prayer service given by Father John Kalomas will be at 7:00 p.m. The Demos Family invites their family and friends for a memorial dinner immediately following the visitation at Omega Restaurant, 9100 W. Golf Road, Niles, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association Sports Scholarship (AHEPA) and the National Hellenic Invitational Basketball Tournament Scholarship Fund (NHIBT) would be appreciated.

We know that the Lord is pleased to have one of His kind and generous angels back in his arms where he belongs. George will be sorely missed by all lives he touched on this Earth. May his memory be eternal.
