Fred Ernst Krueger, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife Lillian of 61 years and his six (6) devoted children; Linda (Dan) Hoelzen, Fred Krueger, Karen Torger, Greg (Danielle) Krueger, Jim (Paula) Krueger and Sandra (Chris) Miller. Dearest grandfather of eight (8) grandchildren, Joseph Hoelzen, Lauren (Torger) Davis, Britt Torger, Evan, Spencer, Kendall Krueger, Taylor and Hannah Krueger and great grandchild, Harvey Hoelzen.
Fred was born to Marie and Fred Krueger on March 1, 1928. He grew up on the Northwest side of Chicago and graduated from Carl Shurz High School in 1946. He helped his father in the early days establishing Northwest Plumbing Company from his own garage. In 1950, he was inducted into the Armed Services and stationed in Guam on the island of Ghana serving in the Seabee Battalion Detachment 1506. After becoming ill, while in service, he was sent to the VA hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he met his Florence Nightingale, Lillian Stenske. After nursing him back to health they were married in 1954. Fred continued his work as a successful business owner of Northwest Plumbing Company.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Nelson Funeral Home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to the Time of Service 11:30 a.m. . Burial will be immediately after at Town of Main Cemetery, Park Ridge.
