IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evelyn D
Wichmann
November 6, 1926 – February 20, 2023
Evelyn Dorothy Wichmann, 96, of Chicago, passed away in Jacksonville, Florida on the evening of February 20 th , surrounded by her devoted and loving daughters.
Evelyn was born on November 6, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to Anna Paczynski and Carl Blenske. After obtaining her education, Evelyn worked in civil service before marrying Carl Heinz Wichmann in 1949. Their marriage was blessed by two daughters, Janice Lynn (Hunsader) and Carol Ann (Davis).
Evelyn was known as the life of the party and throughout their life together, Evelyn and Carl loved to entertain family and friends. Whether hosting holidays in their large basement bar in Chicago or at their lakefront cottage on Fox Lake, they cherished family time and built a lifetime of memories on the water.
Evelyn loved to travel as well and would frequently venture across the globe with her husband to explore new and beautiful scenes. Many of these beautiful landscapes ultimately became inspiration for the paintings that poured forth from her hands. Evelyn was a talented artist and oil on canvas was her preferred modality. Always looking at life through a creative lens, she was an eager student of painting for most of her adult life and her works are treasured by those that knew and loved her.
Evelyn was preceded in death by both her parents and her husband, Carl. She is survived by her two daughters, Janice L. (Steven) Hunsader, Carol A. (Jack) Davis. She enjoyed a close relationship with her five grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Socwell, Christine Bennett, Lindsay Davis, Ashley Hunsader, and Paul (Katie) Hunsader. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren who she was blessed to know, Noah & John Bennett, Owen & Andrew Socwell, Valerie & Logan Hunsader.
Evelyn will be dearly missed but her spirit lives on through her family and through her artwork which adorns the homes of those she loves.
