Evelyn Doherty, (nee Bradtke) age 94, died December 16, 2016 suddenly of heart failure. Beloved wife of the late Edward Emmet Doherty and loving Mother of Patricia (Luciano) Wozniak, grandmother of Ashley (Jerome) Menig and Justin Wozniak and great grandmother of Jerome and Sophia Menig. Evelyn was the daughter of the late Philip and Marie Bradtke, sister of the late Marie (the late Sol) Albert and the late Lorraine (the late Jack) Porter and Rita (the late Carl) Nelson. Born January 12, 1922 in Chicago Illinois, Evelyn was the third of four daughters and a lifelong Chicago resident and die hard Cubs fan. As a young woman she enjoyed weekly horseback riding at stables on the outskirts of Chicago. She enjoyed dancing and big band/swing music often at the Aragon Ballroom. During World War II she worked at Littlefuse as an assembler. After the unexpected loss of her young husband in 1957; Evelyn raised her daughter as a single parent. She worked at Shure brothers, a job she loved, assembling microphones until she retired. She had a sweet disposition and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Her favorite phrases to family and others were "Have a nice day!" and "Be Happy!" In Lieu of flowers, please have masses in her memory.
