Elfie J. Smith, 75, loving wife of 44 years of Douglas; cherished mother of Elfie (Mark) Repel and Patrick (Leigh) Smith; dedicated daughter of the late George and late Elfie Christiansen; beloved grandmother of Elfie Eileen and Maclan James; caring sister of Tom (Janice) Christiansen, Sue (Randy) Ciabattoni, and Trish (Chuck) Kelly; devoted aunt of Katie, Corrie, Matthew, Jason, and Todd; and fond sister-in-law of Jeff (Janie) Smith.

Elfie was always involved in education; she began her career as a Spanish teacher at Taft and Kennedy High Schools. After starting her family she continued to teach grade school at Immaculate Conception and helped lead students at Resurrection High School as a guidance counselor. Elfie was known for her quick wit, warm and fun spirit, and positive outlook. She has touched many and will be missed by many more.

Visitation, Thursday, from 9 a.m. to time of prayers. Funeral Prayers to begin at 11 a.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 W. Talcott Rd. Park Ridge. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, with interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donate to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation .
