IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eileen
Hoffmann
November 16, 1940 – November 19, 2024
Eileen Hoffmann (nee O'Connor), 84, long time resident of Park Ridge, cherished wife to Arthur for over 60 years; caring mother to the late Michael Hoffmann, Jean (Brad) Lewis, Cathy (Brian) Fitzpatrick, and Patrick (Leslie) Hoffmann; loving nana to Matty, Paddy, Michael, Danny, Katie, Sean; fond sister to Dan (Ambrosia) O'Connor, Margie (Ed) Brunner. She is also preceded in death by her parents John & Marguerite, and two brothers, John & Brian.
Eileen was a beloved educator, devoted community member, talented artist, and cherished friend. Eileen's life was a reflection of her unwavering dedication to her students, her faith, her creative pursuits, and the people she loved.
Eileen graduated from Alvernia High School and went on to earn a degree in English from Loyola University Chicago. She spent her early teaching years at Madonna High School in Chicago, where her passion for literature and her nurturing spirit left a lasting impression on her students.
A lifelong member of Mary, Seat of Wisdom Church in Park Ridge, Eileen was deeply involved in CFM and the Guardian Angel Guild, offering her time and energy to serve others. Her faith and generosity were an inspiration to many, and she touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Eileen was also an active member and officer of the 20th Century Club of Park Ridge, where she enjoyed fostering friendships and supporting community initiatives. Her warm personality and kind heart made her a beloved presence in all the groups to which she belonged.
Outside of her community and professional life, Eileen had a great love for the beauty of Door County, Wisconsin, where she found peace and joy in the quiet landscapes. Whether walking along the shore or simply taking in the serene surroundings, Door County was a place that brought her immense happiness.
A talented artist, Eileen found creative expression through painting and crocheting. She poured her heart into her artwork, capturing the beauty she saw in the world and sharing it with those around her. Her crocheted pieces, in particular, were cherished by family and friends, and her paintings brightened the homes of those who admired her skill and creativity. It should be noted that in the late 90's one of her Tole and Decorative pieces earned the 2nd place award at the Illinois State Fair.
Eileen was also a lover of British mysteries, particularly the works of Hercule Poirot. She enjoyed the intrigue and wit of Agatha Christie's stories and often spent quiet afternoons lost in her favorite books.
Eileen was a devoted animal lover, and she cherished the companionship of her three Cairn Terriers—Robbie, Brodie, and Duffy—who brought her much joy and comfort over the years.
Eileen's legacy of faith, creativity, service, and love will live on in all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
