Donald J. Nelson, 91, beloved son of Haakon and Ruth Nelson; dearly loved husband of  Siri June Nelson (deceased); treasured father of Paul (Cindy), Lawrence, David (Krista), and Timothy; cherished grandfather of Ruby, Alex, Lucy, James, and Colton; devoted brother of Miriam (Raymond, both deceased) and brother Warren (Suzanne, both deceased); adored uncle of Brian and Erik (Molly); and loving friend of many.

Donald lived a long and full life! His life path took him to many places and was filled with rich experiences, events, and stories ꟷ graduate of Northwestern University (dual English Literature and Accounting degrees); proud serviceman in the US Army (nicknamed Tiger [Siri didn't know]); enjoyed playing guitar and singing; Accountant in real estate, banking, and church finances; active in the Lutheran Church teaching and bible study; husband of 63 years to Siri June Nelson (Karlsson); a rich family tree (father of four successful boys and their extended families, and grandfather of five); lifelong Cubs and Bears fan! Donald enjoyed books and enthusiastically followed the news, appreciated old movies and theater, and was a jeopardy master (aspirational!). He had a dry sense of humor that had everyone laughing and kept all of us on our toes! He could be found solving crossword puzzles and other brain puzzles and never grew tired of learning! There's so much more to say about this amazing son, sibling, father, and grandfather, and we'll miss him for as long as we live.

Memorial Visitation, Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Nelson Funeral Home 820 Talcott in Park Ridge, IL from 10:30 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m.
