Obituary

During sunrise on October 20th, Diane L. Holm (59) passed away, surrounded by family. Diane was the
beloved wife of Will (married 38 years), and devoted mom to Erick (Megan), Emilie (Steve Schimmel)
and Kyle (Abbey). She spent time adoring her five grandchildren Bradley, Caleb, Samuel, Joanna, and
Tytus, along with her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; she was Auntie Didi to
countless little loves. She is survived by her mother, Gloria Erickson, and her three cherished sisters
Sandi (Gary Orlando), Jeannie (Brian Rathbun) and Ellen (Steve Hall). Diane was reunited with her late
father, Theodore, and sister Anne. Diane is known for her remarkable creativity and compassion. She
arranged flowers for over 40 years for countless weddings and events, adding her touch of beauty and
hospitality to many lives. She worked in the Glenview School District for 20 years, lighting up Hoffman
School's front office, library, lunchroom, and playground. Her positivity and humility made a difference
in her community. She loved having weekends and holidays at the lake, taking in both the beauty of the
water and skillfully water skiing until quite recently. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, volunteering,
book club, baking, and decorating. Her back porch light was on, her kitchen was busy, her table was
set...and her heart was open. To know her was to have made a genuine friend, and to feel the love of
God, personally. She loved to laugh and endured Will's jokes and antics patiently. Diane had a unique
way of remembering what mattered to each one in her life and always asking caring questions. She
honored the victories and acknowledged the disappointments of others in a way all her own. Handmade
and with thoughtful details, gifts were created and given from the heart. Diane (Didi) was a treasure to
all, and her life was a blooming bouquet of service and graciousness, even to the end as she battled lung
cancer. She is now well. Diane is healed and home in Heaven. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at South Park Church on Saturday, November 23rd at 2:00 pm, with light refreshments served immediately following. Visitation begins at 1:00 pm. 1330 Courtland,
