Carl A. Turano, age 86, Beloved husband to the late Carmela; proud father of Carl (Mary), Andreana (Tim Carter), and AnnaMaria (Jay Weiss); cherished Nonno of Marie (Joe Hall), Madeline, and Clare; great-grandfather of Rosemarie. Survived by his kind older sister, Ida, and close friend Cathy. Fond uncle and friend of many. Predeceased by his loving parents, Carlo and Rachele, adoring sister and brothers: Maria, Frank, and Orestes "Rusty".
Carl treasured his family. His siblings were his best friends, he remained heartbroken over the early loss of his dear wife, and always pushed his children in education. He was talented. A gifted lighting designer, his award-winning designs are featured in numerous historic buildings in Chicago. He was an artist. He led his own orchestra while attending Austin High School, teaching himself the accordion, clarinet, and piano. He sang in the church choir and performed in the church plays. He adored the classics: the opera, classical music, and most importantly, classic cars. He proudly exhibited his 1930 Packard at various car shows throughout the Chicagoland area and cherished his friendships from the Packard Club.
Visitation: Friday, May 16, 2025 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, immediately followed by a Liturgy of the Word at 10:30 am, at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 West Talcott Road, Park Ridge, IL. Interment to follow at Acacia Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, 7800 West Irving Park Road, Norridge, IL.
