Carl B. Edwards, 88, of Chicago; beloved husband of Alice, loving father of Kenneth (Shawn) Edwards and Karen (Paul) Hoffman, admired step-father of Scott and Andrew Longman, proud grandfather of Kari (Brandon) Larche, Rebecca (Dave) VanDerveer, Leah (Andrew) Edwards Hosmer, Trevor Hoffman, Ellen and Anne Longman, adoring great grandfather of Elizabeth, Nathan and Gideon Larche, loving brother of the late Charles, Robert (Cheri), Edward Jr. (Ann), and Deacon Carole Edwards; fond uncle of Patrick (Katie) Edwards, Cindy Edwards, Erin (Al) Warpinski, dear great uncle of Gabbie, Grace and Graham Edwards. He was a dear nephew, cousin, Godfather and loving and trusted friend.
Carl had a long and successful career in commercial real estate, and shopping mall and planned community development. He held senior management positions with many companies over his career. His contributions to The Rouse Company, O'Connor Group, and Kravco Company were some of his lasting achievements. He had a broad network and a talent for remembering almost everyone he ever met. Carl served as a volunteer fireman, earned a U.S Coast Guard 44 ton Captain's License, and was an accomplished saxophone player starting in his high school days at Taft and continuing throughout his lifetime. He was an antique car enthusiast and enjoyed attending and participating in car shows. He was always happy to share words of wisdom and encouragement and lend a helping hand. His love for family, friends and business associates has left an amazing legacy in all the lives he's touched. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
