Carl T. Bloomgren Jr.

Carl T. Blomgren Jr. “Teddy”, 91, devoted husband for 65 years of Utta Blomgren; cherished father of Kim (Tony) Meyers, Scott Blomgren and Claudia (Jim) Melachrinakis; doting Opa of Zach, Josh, Matt and Ali; treasured brother of Ruth Rusch, Tom Blomgren, the late Carol Shields and the late Bob Blomgren; uncle of many nieces and nephews. 

Carl and Utta met in Germany where he was serving as Army Lieutenant. In 1961, they moved back to the United States to raise their family. Carl was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose loyalty, kindness, and love were felt by all who knew him. Carl was a Civil Engineer and spent most of his career as the Director of the Hinsdale Sanitary District. An avid reader with a lifelong curiosity, he was known for his humor—if you were caught in one of his watergun pranks, you were “okay” in his book. A devoted Christian, Carl deeply cherished his church. 

A church service and Celebration of Life reception will be held on Saturday April 25, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church 205 N. Prospect Ave, Park Ridge, IL 60068. 

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Carl’s memory.
