Alex Newman, age 28, of Northbrook, Illinois. He is survived by his beloved parents Maria and Denny Newman; loving grandmother Hermina Rodriguez; cherished uncle and aunts Elva (Rhett) Smith, Velia (Lorenzo) Herrera, Gloria (Mark) Oldin, Diane (the late Bill) Wilson and Ronald (Nancy) Newman; dear cousins Robert Herrera, Karina Acosta, Alma Guzman, Gabriel Sanchez, Danielle, Jaclyn and Kristen Oldin; Michael and Kevin Wilson, Mary Kay Bocain, DeeDee Horwath, Missy Taki, Megan Gale, Vince, Tim and Brian Newman; best fur friend to Baker. Alex is preceded in death by his grandparents Roberto Rodriguez, Helen and Vincent Newman.

The family then moved  to Park Ridge, Illinois when he was eight years old. He graduated from Maine South High School in 2007. He studied gemology in San Diego, California and later in San Francisco. He apprenticed and worked at several jewelry stores in Chicago. Alex was a talented artist and designer, a loving son and true friend. In recent months, he lived happily with his girlfriend, Sam, in Chicago.

Memorial visitation to honor his life will be Tuesday, June 20, from 4 to 8 pm; Memorial service 7 pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Rd., Park Ridge. Interment private. For more information please call  847-823-5122.
