IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Adele B.
Alaspa
May 26, 1946 – December 1, 2021
Adele H. Alaspa (nee Billhardt), 75, passed on December 1st due to complications of Dementia. She is survived by her two sons, Bryan (Melanie) in Naperville, IL and Marc in Beaverton, OR. After paying her dues as a boy mom for many years, she was rewarded with her beautiful grandchildren Zoe Louise and Rylan James, who brought her great joy. She is also survived by her sister Lynda (Richard) Hartwig in Park Ridge, IL and brother-in-law Michael Schmahl in Lincoln, CA.
Adele worked as a bookkeeper at Wells Lamont, Tri-Star Engineering, and All Thermal Insulation, and had part-time jobs as a cashier at Aldi and in the deli and Thompson's and Jewel in Park Ridge to help put both of her children through school.
She was preceded by her husband Wayne Alaspa, whom she met when she was in high school, married in 1968, and was with until he passed in 2018 from a lengthy illness. Her eldest sister Brenda Schmahl and parents Armin and Della Billhardt also preceded her. Adele was fond of rescuing cats and took in Sable, Mischief, Willy, and Boo among other cherished pets who departed before her.
Adele's favorite activities were going to movies, quilting with her church friends from St. Andrews, and she enjoyed a long search for the perfect thin crust pizza that could be cut into strips and rolled up like she and Wayne enjoyed in their youth at one pizza parlor in the Edison Park neighborhood of Chicago, where she lived most of her life.
Adele will be celebrated by vaccinated family and friends during a memorial service at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Park Ridge, IL on Saturday, December 4th, 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Matt Hoffman officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home in Park Ridge, IL.
An online celebration of life is being planned for the future.
Donations in her memory can be made to Harmony House for Cats in Chicago, IL.
